About Liverpool Roofs
Liverpool Roofs is a family-run roofing firm that has been working on homes and commercial buildings around Merseyside since 2004. We started as a two-man outfit working off ladders in Anfield and Everton, and we've grown into a team of twelve skilled tradesmen, a full-time office manager, and a yard in south Liverpool. What hasn't changed in twenty years is the basic promise: turn up when we say we will, do the job properly, and stand behind it afterwards.
How we work
Most of what sets a good roofer apart from a poor one isn't visible from the ground. It's whether the battens are the right gauge, whether the breathable membrane is lapped correctly at the hips, whether the lead is bossed properly at the chimney soakers, and whether the scaffold is signed off by a qualified scaffolder rather than thrown up by a labourer. We've built our reputation on getting the details right.
Every job we do follows the same process:
- Free site visit and written quote. We come out, look at the roof (not just from the road), talk to you about options, and send a typed quote within 48 hours. No pressure, no "today only" pricing.
- Survey photos. Where the job is significant, we take photographs during the survey and include them with the quote so you can see what we saw β including any issues you might not be aware of from ground level.
- Scheduling. Once you accept, we slot the job into our diary. You'll get a firm start date and a written schedule showing expected milestones and completion date.
- Scaffold up. Always before a strip begins. Edge protection, toe boards, and ladder access signed off. No working off leaning ladders.
- Daily updates. A short end-of-day message from the lead roofer tells you what was done today and what's planned for tomorrow. No surprises.
- Completion walk-round. We walk the site with you, point out anything worth knowing, and leave you with the guarantee certificate and any manufacturer paperwork.
Our team
All our regular crew are employed directly β we don't use day-rate subbies for anything structural. Everyone holds CSCS cards. Our two lead roofers are CITB-assessed Advanced Craftsmen. Our scaffolder is PASMA-certified for tower work up to 8m. We carry Β£5 million public liability insurance and Β£10 million employer's liability cover, and we're happy to send certificates across before any job starts.
What we stand for
Honesty at quote stage
If your roof doesn't need replacing, we'll say so. If a repair is the wrong answer because the roof has reached end-of-life, we'll say that too. We'd rather walk away from a job than sell someone a short-term fix they'll regret. About 15% of the quotes we issue are "don't do this β do this instead" recommendations, and we sleep better for it.
Proper materials
We stick to established UK brands β Marley, Redland, Sandtoft, Klober, Firestone, Classicbond, IKO, Sika, CUPA, Cembrit, Velux. We don't fit budget imports from suppliers nobody has heard of, because the spare parts won't be available in 15 years when the roof needs a minor repair. This sometimes makes our quotes higher than the cheapest in town; we think that's a fair trade.
A proper guarantee
Our 10-year workmanship guarantee means what it says. If our work fails within the period, we come back, fix it, and cover labour, materials, and scaffold. No exclusions buried in small print. The guarantee is backed by our trade body membership, so it's still honoured even in the unlikely event we're no longer trading.
Trade associations & accreditations
NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors) member. Firestone RubberCover accredited installer. Sika Sarnafil Approved Contractor. CHAS SSIP accredited. Liverpool City Region Combined Authority approved supplier.
Where we work
Our yard is in south Liverpool, which means we're set up for quick response across the Merseyside conurbation. We travel up to 40 miles for regular jobs, covering Birkenhead, Wallasey, and the Wirral; Bootle, Crosby, and Formby in the north; St Helens, Warrington, Widnes, and Runcorn in the east; Wigan and Skelmersdale in the north-east; Southport and Ormskirk; Chester and Ellesmere Port to the south; and Preston to the north. Beyond that radius, we occasionally take on commercial projects by prior arrangement.
Our history
The business was founded in 2004 by Paul, who had spent eight years on the tools with a large contractor before deciding to set up on his own. His brother Dan joined in 2007, taking on the commercial side of things. Our first full-time apprentice came on board in 2011 β he's now a lead roofer and runs his own crew. We've grown steadily, never in big leaps, and we've made it a point of pride to bring new lads up through proper apprenticeships rather than just hiring whoever's available.
Some numbers from the last twelve months: 847 free quotes issued, 412 jobs completed, 94% customer satisfaction score (via independent review collection), 0 recorded injuries on site. The 6% who weren't fully satisfied β we'd rather hear from them than not, because it's the only way we get better.
